My stitch markers are snag free because I use jump rings that are soldered closed. No split rings or rings that open so, no snagging. I use wrapped loops to attach the beads. This is different from a lot of markers that just bend the wire over. This leaves an opening to snag yarn. I knit with lace yarn and a stitch marker that doesn't snag is very important to me.
As a knitter, stitch markers have helped me to "read" my knitting and now I catch my mistakes as I am about to make them. It's so much better than getting to the end of the row and finding out you made a mistake at the beginning of the row.
